A Great Reminder

Last week I had a very special day.  As many of you know 8 years ago when I had my twins Emery was diagnosed with a form of spinal bifida.  The doctors told us she may never walk or use the restroom.  We went through a series of issues but in the end God totally and miraculously healed our baby girl.  We had her surgery in Chicago with an amazing Dr. at Children's Memorial.

This is Emery at the Hospital after her surgery.  Isn't she the prettiest baby?

Then three years later we  moved back to Georgia.  Ideally I would be the type of mom who immediately got Emery's medical records and found a new neurosurgeon for her yearly followup visits and MRI's.  However, if you have been reading my blog at all you know that I am not that mom.  My mom however is that mom and she has been hounding me for FIVE long years to get Emery in to be seen in Atlanta.

I am proud to say the finally I have taken Emery to her yearly check up, five years later.  Last week Emery and drove to Atlanta to see a really great doctor.  I knew that Emery was fine, but just to hear the Doctor tell us that she looked great and she was perfectly healthy was an amazing reminder to me of the miracle God did in her life.  Every time I see the scar on her back I am reminded and I am thankful.  Each time I watch her ride her bike, play baseball or run down the road I am so thankful that God touched her body.  I learned the hard way that God doesn't do things in the timing we think he should or the way that we think he should but God is faithful to do what He said he would do.  I stood on the word that God spoke to me the night the twins were born and I was reminded last week of just how faithful God is.

I was reading in Psalm 77 and it just reminded me how important it is that we take time to remember what God has done.

11 But then I recall all you have done, O Lord;
I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago.
12 They are constantly in my thoughts.
I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works.

When we remember all God has done in the past it gives of faith and hope in what he will do in the future.

Getting the all clear!

I did something with Emery that I wouldn't normally do.  I decided to slow down and spend some time with her in Atlanta after her doctors appointment.  Much to my delight and enjoyment Perimeter Mall was right around the corner from the office.  Here are a few pictures from our day... I hope you enjoy and I hope that as you look at my miracle you can remember some of your own.  Maybe you are waiting on your miracle, look at mine and be encouraged yours is on the way!

Fate stepped in and Urban Outfitters was the first store we saw!  However browsing in here is not really very fun and Emery is not a good window shopper.

She is however very photogenic.  I am thinking of turning this in to a modeling agency...any thoughts?

I mean seriously everyone needs this mug.  It would make you have a good day every morning as you drank from it.

I tried to talk Emery into a healthy lunch of cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory.  She wanted Chick fil a so we compromised and I introduced her to the wonderful world of Aunty Anne's.
